For Autumn Term 2025, we're bringing you Student Employment Week 2025 Part 2, with even more activities to inspire your interests, connect with employers, develop your skills, and learn more about your options.

Student Employment Week kicks off with the Student Employment Team who will be ready to meet you in the Forum Street on Monday 29 September between 11am-2pm.

Understanding Internship Schemes for International Students | Handshake
In this virtual session, we will be joined by Rebecca Lenthall and Amanda Searle from the University’s Student Employment Team and Internships Team, to explain and answer your questions about how you can successfully apply for internships with the university while you are studying.
In this online session, you will learn:
- The types of part-time and flexible internship opportunities available on campus and with local employers.
- How to write an effective application and personal statement as an international student, including common mistakes to avoid.
- What you can do to increase your chances of success at being invited to an interview.
Preparing for a Career Fair (Online) | Handshake
Session overview:
In this session you will understand how to best prepare to take advantage of opportunities at Career Fairs.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Gain more of/an awareness of careers fairs
- Recognise what careers fairs can offer you
- Understand how to best prepare to take advantage of opportunities at the Fairs
- Explore ways to make productive approaches to employers at Fairs
- Look at ways to follow up after the fair

Neurodiversity and the Workplace. | Handshake
This bespoke hybrid session will focus on the challenges experienced in the workplace for individuals who are dyslexic and/or have ADHD, and the techniques that can be used to overcome them.
Whether you are living with neurodiversity yourself, or you are neurotypical and want to understand how you can better support neurodiverse peers and colleagues as you navigate the working world, this is a great session to attend.

Creating a Successful CV (ONLINE SESSION) | Handshake
This webinar will show you how to successfully sell your skills and aptitudes, through the format of a CV.
